Review: Sophie and the Giants – If I Don’t Break Your Heart I’ll Break Mine

Sophie and the Giants are practitioners of innovative, left-leaning pop; a raw fusion of collective influences, which range from the likes of Siouxsie to Blondie and Jamie T. The band was formed by Sophie (vocals), Chris Hill (drums), Bailey Stapledon (bass) and Toby Holmes (guitar) while all four of them were still in college.

What really pulled us into the song was Sophie and the Giants’ writing style, the rich imagery and meaning behind her lyrics reach deep into the band’s headspace and we admire the vocalist performance. It’s a bold new step for the band and we admire their creative direction. Hopefully, we’ll be hearing new material from them sooner rather than later but until then, we’ll just have to keep ‘If I Don’t Break Your Heart I’ll Break Mine’ on repeat.

Check it out for yourself and don’t forget to connect with Sophie and the Giants online to stay up to date on any upcoming releases and enjoy!

  1. … which range from the likes of Siouxsie … So what?! Nope … X-Mal Deutschland sounds like Siouxsie, but Sophie and the Giants? Did I missunderstood something?
