As students of Sir Paul McCartney’s LIPA Institute, Idle Frets look set to add the line of alumni success, joining graduates such as The Wombats, Dan Croll, Circa Waves, and The Staves.
Formed by two cousins, it wasn’t until frontman Ben Davies met drummer Matthew Bankhurst at university that the band began to seriously make waves across the live circuit.
Starting with a handful of small shows while still crafting their sound in Liverpool, the band have since established themselves as ones-to-catch at festival tents and various venues, and have gone on to play with the likes of Catfish & The Bottlemen, The 1975, Blossoms as well as receiving big support from Spotify and National radio.
Instrumentally, the song has a rich, full accompaniment that complements the vocal track perfectly. The performance quality is high throughout, both vocally and instrumentally. Overall, the song is distinctive and original, and I think it has strong commercial potential. Without exaggeration, this is one of the best voices we have heard recently.
