Interview: Cody Presley – Twenty7 EP

Growing up in Pensacola, Florida, Cody Presley used his small town hardships to his advantage; sharing his raw passion and pain through his music. Mixing elements of emo-rap, alternative, and trap – the 27 year-old’s discography of heartbreak and loss speak to the hopeless romantic in all of us.

Hi Cody, how are you today?

Hey there, doing good and feeling good. Thanks for asking.

How would you describe your sound?

Um, alternative. A blend and inspiration of multiple genres.

Which artists have influenced you the most over the years?

Many artists have played a big role in my life honestly. Sum 41, Lil Peep, Kid Cudi, Neck Deep

Can you tell us about how your new EP ‘Twenty7’, came about?

Every song that we put on here was written situational. Different moments in life, good and bad you just got to go with it and make the best of what you got. A few topics I wanted to touch on the album, little details, just something for people to relate and not feel alone. It started with one song, Nosebleed, that’s when we knew we found what sound fits me best, so my manager and I just got to work, mapped everything out, what we wanted to talk about and put it all down.

What other plans have you got in store for 2021?

We have a couple great ideas, I can tell you for sure that music videos are on the way.

Maybe some new singles, who knows.

And finally, what has been your fondest memory since you became a musician?

Ah man, definitely my manager surprising me with a billboard in Times Square NYC. That blew my mind!
