This week’s artist watch is Dublin-based Sleep Thieves, an indie, electronic-pop trio from Dublin whose music ranges from synth-wave gothic to “Disco-noir” as described by the Irish Times. Their latest EP “Fortress” takes everything the band has become known for over the years and wraps it into a brooding 5-track EP for your listening pleasure!

“Fortress EP is a collection of songs drawing from each, beginning life in the first studio and evolving as our transient existence bounced us from home to home.” – Sleep Thieves

Their ear-catching, psychedelic sound has over the years lead to support from the likes of affluent taste makers such as The Guardian, The Line Of Best Fit, MTV Online and Clash Magazine to name a few, in addition to having their music streamed by a global audience with over 7 million Spotify streams and counting.

“These songs are a snapshot of how time, surroundings, upheaval and change can sculpt the creative process in unexpected yet welcome ways.” – Sleep Thieves

The EP begins with the lead single Sea Of Shadows, a sparsely nostalgic work that builds through an arpeggiated lead line, chilling vocals and ethereal synths, leading the EP through a series of similarly dark narratives, culminating in 20 minutes of compelling indie-pop satisfaction.

Moody, mellow and deeply hypnotic, “Fortress” will not disappoint Sleep Thieves’ ever-growing fan base and is definitely an EP to be shared!
