Hi guys, how are you today?
It’s a warm sunny day here in Kyiv, Ukraine, so we are feeling just perfect today!
For those that haven’t heard of you yet, how would you best describe your sound, and who have been your biggest influences so far?
We define our sound as melancholic indie rock. We try to combine light indie rock melodies with a post-punk raw guitar sound and repetitive rhythmic patterns . Overall our biggest influence is British new wave and post-punk movements, including acts like The Chameleons, The Cure, Morrisey, Interpol, White Lies, The Twilight Sad, The Stills, The Buttertones
Do you remember what the first song was that made you want to start a career in music?
It’s been quite a while ago, but I still can remember once I’ve heard a friend of mine doing a cover of ‘Now I wanna be your dog’ by The Stooges at one of the local shows – raw power and energy of this beautiful song inspired much and at that moment pushed forward to try to find and realize what we wanted to explore further on.
You have just released your new single ‘New Love’. Can you tell us how that track came about? And is there a story behind it?
New Love was made as a one-breath song. It all happened very quickly and took a band about an hour to give it a shape. Shortly afterward, we decided to shoot a video for it. It was a beautiful autumn outside, and we naturally had an idea to reflect on that. However, the coronavirus situation forced us to postpone the shooting for two months, so when we arrived at the location finally, it was the beginning of December already, and that actually changed our story much. We immersed ourselves into the gloomy and dark atmosphere of the winter forest instead. The mood and dimmed light of that day charmed us so much that we left all colours in the video unedited to deliver that natural and soft touch to the clip
Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?
Yes, you are right, our new EP ‘Dogs by the Night’ is being released on June 25th, so we are very happy to present it!
The coronavirus outbreak has obviously affected everyone’s plans, but what have you got in store for the rest of the year?
These times we are focused heavily on studio work, and we’re already shaping the new material that has much more psychedelic elements to it, so stay tuned.
And finally, what is the best piece of musical advice you have ever been given?
We are always looking forward to developing and pushing ourselves forward every day, so that would be, I guess – ‘Try to make each new song sound better than the previous one’ 🙂
