After being misdiagnosed with a terminal disease three years ago, singer-songwriter Chris Leamy developed a debilitating case of OCD. Struggling to get through even the most basic daily routines, Chris found a saving grace in a surprising group of people – the homeless community. Chris now spearheads a life-changing social movement called #heplaysforme dedicated to humanizing the homeless population through the power of music.
Through the simple act of playing music with the homeless and sharing their stories on social media, Chris has seen that small acts of kindness CAN change lives. The #heplaysforme movement has garnered national and international attention with Chris having been featured on media outlets like NowThis (11M views), CNN, CBS This Morning, FOX, Huffington Post, and more.
“I assumed these people needed MY help, and it was actually the opposite. In trying to serve others, I received 10 times that help in return” says Chris.
“Great Mistakes” chronicles this change in perspective. A powerful, soul driven rock anthem, the music feels as powerful as the movement. Chris’ sound combines soulful vocals, alt rock soundscapes, and powerfully authentic lyrics to create a unique blend of gospel infused rock… with purpose.
This is a great song and performance. The melody is strong and tuneful. The singer has an attractive vocal tone, and puts real feeling into the lyrics. The lyrics are interesting and meaningful with some punchy phrases. Instrumentally, the song has a rich, full accompaniment that complements the vocal track perfectly.
The performance quality is high throughout, both vocally and instrumentally. Overall, the song is distinctive and original, and I think it has strong commercial potential.
