Artist Spotlight: a conversation with Eveta

Nothing unites us quite like music does. It amplifies inclusivity on a global scale. Growing up in Argentina and splitting time between Canada and the United States, Eveta infuses unpredictable and undeniable pop with a dynamic perspective informed by an equally diverse journey. After generating just shy of a million streams independently, the artist, singer, songwriter, and performer welcomes everyone with an open heart on his official 2020 debut EP, Higher.

Hey Eveta! Can you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi guys! I’m a singer, songwriter and performer from Toronto. I was born in Argentina and moved here at 19…

Congratulations on your new single ‘Higher’, can you give us some insight into the inspiration behind it?

Higher is about raising our collective consciousness to achieve a better understanding of each other and eventually peace. Especially right now!

What was the recording process like?

Recording was amazing! I recorded it at the old Black Eyed Peas’ studio in Los Angeles. I wrote the song along with India Carney. I had never recorded in LA before and dreamed of it growing up… so this was very special for me.

Where are you from and what’s the music scene like there?

The music scene in Toronto is very diverse… Rap, Acoustic, Singer/Songwriters… People collaborate a lot together and I love that about the music scene here.

If you could collaborate with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

There are so many people I’d like to collaborate with but my top one would be Shakira. I grew up listening to her records in Spanish and I’ve admired her ever since.

What’s coming up next for you? Any online live shows in the diary?

I’m releasing my new single Serve on August 21st, followed by more new music from me this year! Sadly, no shows for now.

Thank you SO much for having me! Lots of love Xx

What Eveta said about the music video:

The concept of the video is a wake up call for action, we need to wake up. Climate change is real and we’re not doing enough, too many people are hungry every night and it’s unacceptable in 2020. Police violence is atrocious and we need to make a change! On the other hand, I wanted to show how much we have achieved, and dedicate it to Malala (she got shot in a bus for wanting and education) but finally she reached higher and just graduated university and won a Nobel prize! Greta Thunberg is moving millions of people for a change; She’s doing it all at 17 years old. It’s so inspiring… THERE IS good in the world but we STILL have a long way to go. Some images are about moments different countries achieved LGBTQ marriage, LGBTQ football teams and finally the last images are about Gen Z kids which are the future; all diverse and beautiful in their own way… 💛 ‘You can’t eat money.’
